front brake on a BMX

Postby maryka » 24 Aug 2016, 19:32

Got a secondhand Redline Pitboss for my 5-yo which she quickly grew out of for racing, she's now on a Haro mini micro which is quicker around the track. So I'd like to make the pitboss into an all-round bike for everything else non-racing, but of course it needs a front brake (among other things). The reach is quite long, like 75mm. It's only got a drilled fork hole, no mounts on the fork, so a centre or sidepull caliper I guess.

Anyone have a suggestion for a decent caliper that will work with Tektro junior (v-brake) levers? How bad will the stopping power be, keeping in mind it's for a <20kg rider?
