Sam Fry 1984-1989

Great Site- Thought Id wack on a few photos of UKBMX Nationals from 85 and 86.
Sams first and only National in 84 was Teeside finshed 4th.
In 85 we got a DB Turbolite, powder coated it bright yellow, stuck some dodgy stickers from the States to confuse people and he won 4 or 5 UKBMX Nationals including the 'Big One' at Hounslow and finished with a National No 2 to Gary Bowman which was decided on the last National @ Wigan 2.
As well as National 2 plate on 20", he was National Champion 11@Under Cruisers 1987 on a converted 20" Vitus.
Also London Region 9 champion 84,85 and 86 and East Anglia Champion 1985 or 86.
Hope the photos bring back some memories. Only gave it up as everyone else in his age group were getting so big.

Some great photos there. alot of good times had! I spotted myself in the UKBMX v NBMXA @ Royston 1986 number 2 plate behind Sam. Riding a Vitus that year untill it snapped on me coming short on a set of doubles which seemed huge at the time but prob weren't!! :)

Hi my name is john fisher, great to find this posting.
My son Mark is in some of these pics, torker kit No 5759. Sw region.
TheWheels national was his first final and he is the rider in lane 4 at Exeter!
We used to travel to a lot of meetings from Cornwall ( Redruth Roadrunners Club ) with Paul Ray and his family.
Marks best national result was at Lowestoff where he finished 2nd to Gary Bowman.
Loved the whole scene but stopped after the Slough world 86 due to the expense of the travelling from Cornwall
Had great times at, slough, wigan, coxmoor, wheels, newcastle, exeter, tamworth, hounslow and many more.
Great time for all of our family and met some really nice people,
Finding this has had me looking for the old pics again.

I once see you race in 84 or 85 at a micky mouse track in Gamlingay. You raced 3 age groups up fell off half way round and was stone last but got up and still won. I still cant believe it to this day.
You havent still got that gorgeous yellow mini stashed away anywhere as Ive got a grandson looking to race soon and that bike was the best looking mini Ive ever seen.
