Slough Bmx track

Postby myles » 23 Sep 2014, 18:28

Had a few laps blast round the track this evening.
Its more suited to an Mtb than a Dialled cruiser

I got a feel for what it must have been like back in the day.
Such a shame its been left to the weeds.

Apart from the pump track at Iver, the nearest other place I could train is Hayes and traffic makes that unattractive midweek.

Totally agree it's a shame, went down there a couple of months ago, it doesn't look good.
I spoke to Neal Blakes the other week about trying to get a bunch of us down there to try and clear the weeds n crap from a couple of the jumps & see how it goes, how about it? I'm sure we could recruit Some of the old Slough Swifts? Neal, Howard, Chris, Paul?
I know Sean Fry was keen a couple of years back but I think is still away travelling.
Who's up for it? We might be able to do make a difference & get the council interested in supporting.

That sounds like a good idea, especially Runnymead track is due to be rebuilt soon so is likely to be out of play for a while.

Need to do something that's for sure.
The RC racetrack nearby looks in good order, so its not like its lacking access.

I heard yesterday that a planning application is going through to build a new motocross track in Upton Park (on the BMX side of the bridge) along with a skate facility and new BMX track. I don't know any details but it could be exciting news! Fingers crossed something happens! :)
