Ross Hill. Traggic News!!!

Postby zellwood » 29 Sep 2007, 16:08

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this needs to be posted and I've just heard the traggic news that Ross Hill passed away last night..

All the old skool will know Ross as being one of the charachters of the sport and friend to many over the years aswell as being an awesome BMX rider.

Hilly you will be missed I was just talking to Steve Jenks about you the other day as he said you'd started working with him and was hoping to see you up here building my track this winter.......Gutted.

Our thoughts are with Shirley and family....RIP Ross x

Cant believe this sad news. Was with Ross at Empire of Dirt earlier this year and he looked great in his own Ross way, was full of chat about bmx old and new..
Rik 40 told me that he had been working with him recently like Marco said on a bmx track in Essex.

Rik told me that Ross was on his way home walking along the Totnes Road in the early hours of the morning and was knocked down by a car.

Our thoughts are with Shirley and her family.

More bad news for the old bmx crowd. When will it all end?
Definitely another of the characters gone. One of the best youngsters on the scene back then.
I know Shirley is over here in the UK at the mo. So, so sorry for your loss.

What a tragedy

His mum had been so supportive of Stephen Murray on here recently and now this.

Condolences to the Hill family at this tragic time.

Stay strong.

Just heard this unbelievably sad news. You'll be so missed. Always a help and inspiration for Chris in his early days in BMX. Condolences to Lindsey Shirley and family.

Ross was always RAD both on and off the track.

Sadly taken from the BMX community and his family. A great loss to both.

RIP

My thoughts are with his family.

Ross was just such a dude. So sorry for you Shirley and Bill.

Ross was only 15 when this picture was taken on a road trip to the World Champs in Holland, he was the star of the trip, what a charactor.

Memories of Ross at Backyard 97 flood back . Chillin with him at the World's 99. I'm proud to have known him. A rider's rider. Had to be seen to be believed.

I didn't know Ross that well really but I have a vivid memory of him being at Coppull one year and jumping what was then a tabletop into the first turn and his front wheel coming off in mid air and him just going down so hard.

Its one of those things that sticks in your mind, such a harsh crash. He was always a shredder though.

My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Truly saddened by this news!!
Ross was an all round good guy and an absolute legend on and off his bike his ability an smoothness when ridin were second to none!
An his ability to party off his bike well if you knew him you know!!!!
What makes this even worse was i only spoke to him 2 weeks ago where he told me how he had built up a bike an was gettin back into it an was workin buildin bmx tracks for a livin!!
I was sooo lookin forward to ridin with him again!
Unfortuneately that was not to be but i'm sure he's up there rippin it up.
Thoughts go out to your family
R.I.P Ross once met never forgotten.

Ross I’ll miss you! Can’t believe you have gone you have always been an inspiration to me and always will be! You could pick up a bike when ever you wanted and amaze me! You were just over the other day saying how you were going to get into it and do some coaching! Just want to say how happy I am that I have had the experience of knowing you and how much you have helped me and how grateful I am! Lost a friend but gained an angel!
